This is a huge problem, especially being a seafood and ocean lover. I decided to take fine art food photography pictures of seafood dishes to bring attention to the issue, but instead the seafood is being replaced by the Ocean trash. The photographs are printed directly on glass, and placed in shadow boxes where common plastic trash bags bring forth the photographs from their white color. Plastic trash bags are dangerous to ocean life because they look just like jellyfish and sea creatures die trying to eat them.

Ocean Plastics Concept

I was tasked with photographing a series of four images that discussed a topic larger than ourselves. I decided to bring attention to the growing ocean trash and ocean plastics issue. If nothing is done to stop trash from going into our oceans or to help clean up our oceans, there is supposed to be more trash than fish by 2050. It is believed that there are approximately 5.25 trillion tons of plastic debris in the ocean already; plastic bags, straws, cigarette butts, food wrappers, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans being some of the biggest problems.

I wanted to bring attention to how this is not just a problem for the ocean and our planet, but it is a problem for humans as well, especially if you eat seafood. These image are an extreme representation of what we'll be consuming in the near future if something is not done to cleanup our oceans.
